Accountability

Correct the record without erasing it.

A catalogue correction must identify the exact model, market, disputed field and supporting source. It never silently rewrites the evidence history.

What a correction must identify

A review starts with the full model code, the country or market, the field believed to be wrong, and the source record shown on the model page. Strong supporting evidence includes a current official registration, recall notice or manufacturer document whose reuse and market scope can be checked. A nearby model, retailer description, search-result snippet or unsourced assertion is not enough to transfer a fact between records.

How the review works

The owner-publisher is accountable for the public correction policy and release decision. Internal QA first checks identity, jurisdiction, source authority, licence, observation date and whether the issue comes from the upstream source or Lasting Index’s transformation. A confirmed transformation defect is fixed through a versioned parser or migration. A changed upstream fact is handled through versioned re-ingestion or a superseding assertion. The prior record and reason for change remain available in the audit trail.

What does not happen

Corrections do not merge Australian and French variants, fill missing values from a similar model, average conflicting sources or let advertising influence the outcome. The existing regional relationship candidates remain DO_NOT_MERGE until an authorised reviewer approves a specific relationship with evidence. Unverified community reports are not converted into official facts, and public community submission remains disabled.

Safety reports need an official route first

If an appliance may present an immediate electrical, fire, gas, refrigerant or other safety risk, stop using it when safe to do so and follow the relevant official notice, manufacturer instruction or emergency guidance. Lasting Index is not an emergency service or recall authority. A catalogue correction cannot replace reporting to the responsible regulator or obtaining help from a qualified service provider.

Current public intake boundary

Lasting Index does not yet operate a public correction form or publish a personal contact address. That channel will open only after privacy, moderation, evidence-retention and abuse controls are approved. Until then, this page documents the evidence standard and accountable process without implying that an unmonitored inbox or unsafe submission route exists. You can inspect the methodology, source register and editorial policy used for every review.
